NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man with a criminal history that spans three decades will spend the rest of his life in prison following a conviction for murder.

Justice Franklyn Williams KC handed down the life sentence to 54-year-old Franklyn Edgecombe for the December 11, 2018 murder of Rico Archer.

Edgecombe didn’t show any visible reaction after learning his fate.

Outside court, however, he said there was “a lot of unfairness involved in the matter.”

A jury unanimously found that Edgecombe fired at Archer while chasing him on North Street in Mason’s Addition.

Edgecombe allegedly stood over Archer and pumped more bullets into him once he fell to the ground.

Citing Edgecombe’s extensive rap sheet, Justice Williams found that the convict was incapable of reform.

The Archer family is no stranger to tragedy.

Rico’s younger brother, 11-year-old Marco Archer, was kidnapped and murdered in 2011.
