NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Aspiring politician Lincoln Bain has won a legal battle to have his appeal concerning a failed business deal decided by the Privy Council, the country’s final court.

The Court of Appeal granted Bain conditional leave to appeal its judgment that he had to repay Zinnia Rolle $64,000.

Bain’s now defunct company, Bani Shoe Warehouse, was also ordered to repay Rolle $3,143.

Rolle sued Bain after she gave him $40,000 in 2010 to invest. The money was to be held in trust for a period of three years at a 10 percent interest rate per annum.

She alleged that Bain never invested the money and failed to return it.

Bain didn’t deny getting the money from Rolle. However, he claimed that she the money was to buy the Kid’s Shoe Department from Bani Shoe Warehouse.Bain was unable to produce a sales agreement, which he said was destroyed when Bani Shoe Warehouse burned down.
