NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organizing Committee for the 50th CARIFTA Games Lynden Maycock is standing by the numbers he gave at the weekly press briefing held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Thursday, after the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture said his figure was millions of numbers off the actual spending for CARIFTA.

An official from the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture told a local daily that Maycock’s statement about $9 million being spent for CARIFTA prep was incorrect, and that $839,000 was the accurate figure.

The ministry official said there may have been confusion around the expenditures associated with maintenance of the stadium, and the preparations for the CARIFTA Games, Bahamas Games and World Relays.
