NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Agriculture Minister Clay Sweeting anticipating there will be mass distribution of locally grown eggs within a year.

Sweeting says there are some logistical challenges that may hinder the process.

He says the feed mill – which is a part of the Golden Yolk Program – will be finished in a few weeks.

The initiative was launched during a time when the price of eggs in grocery stores skyrocketed to over ten dollars in some instances.

Back in March, Sweeting told the Tribune business government was relocating funding to the 15 million dollar project to make The Bahamas egg-sufficient.

The agriculture minister says the idea is to ensure local stores purchase locally-grown eggs.
