After three young men died in a car accident in early 2022, loved ones said that doctors in New Providence told them that Manoli Constantakis could have survived, had he made it to the capital sooner.
But they say he wasn’t transported to the capital until five hours after the crash.
Cries for improved healthcare were reignited when a plane crashed, leaving the Long Island regatta last year, taking the life of a young mother.
Long Island’s Chief Councillor Ian Knowles, says the struggle with resources is ongoing.
He says sometimes the shortages result in patients being sent to New Providence for things that might’ve been taken care of locally.
