NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of injuring his niece in the midst of a property dispute has been granted bail pending his trial.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Oscar Cartwright attacked his niece Shaquanya Baker and threatened to kill her on December 17.

Baker is trying to evict her uncle from a triplex that was left to her by her grandmother.

The incident allegedly took place at a restaurant at the Fish Fry in Exuma.

Cartwright allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner, cursed to the annoyance of a police officer and resisted arrest while being taken into custody.

Cartwright denied the charges at his arraignment before Magistrate Kendra Kelly.

He was granted $7,000 bail. His trial is set for March 1, 2024.
