NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of a fatal stabbing is behind bars.

Prosecutors allege that 30-year-old David Wilson Jr stabbed Lashawn Higgs to death on January 13.

According to police, the incident stemmed from a fight at a bar off Carmichael Road.

Wilson surrendered to police a day after the murder, police said.

Wilson didn’t have to enter a plea to the murder charge when he made his initial court appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

Bail was denied as the magistrate doesn’t have the power to consider bail for the offense. Wilson, however, can seek bail in the Supreme Court.

His next court date is March 12 for the presentation of voluntary bill of indictment papers.
