Man Charged with Murdering Girlfriend; Charged with Arson Too

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 46-year-old man accused of dousing his former girlfriend with gasoline and setting her afire is behind bars on murder and arson charges.

Prosecutors say Quentin Russell, otherwise known as Plucky, set 31-year-old Anishka Bonaby alight at her West End Avenue apartment on January 6.

She died as a result of those injuries in hospital on January 22.

Russell didn’t have to enter pleas to the charges when he stood before Assistant Chief Magistrat Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

Bail was denied and he’s due back in court on May 21 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
