NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 27-year-old man is behind bars after police seized 369 pounds of marijuana in his home on Munnings Drive.

Acting on a tip, police executed a search warrant on Kevin Rolle’s home on January 8.

During the search, the officers seized 16 crocus sacks that contained 369 pounds of marijuana in Rolle’s bedroom.

The drugs have a street value of $369,000.

Rolle pleaded guilty to drug possession with intent to supply at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

According to his lawyer, Tonique Lewis, Rolle resorted to the drug trade after he fell on hard times. She said this was not an excuse for his behavior. However, she asked the magistrate to show leniency due to his early guilty plea.

McKinney sentenced Rolle to 18 months in prison. The sentence will be extended by six months if he fails to pay a $12,000 fine.

As a result of Rolle’s guilty plea, the prosecution withdrew charges against the six other men who were arrested at his home.
