NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 35-year-old mother has been charged with child cruelty after police on patrol allegedly found her children on the street  unattended at night. 

She faced six counts of cruelty to children in relation to the January 7 incident.

The mother pleaded not guilty to the charges at her arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

The children, ages one, five, seven, 11, 12 and 14, are now in the care of the state.

She was granted $5,000 bail and is allowed to have supervised visits with her children.

The mother will appear before  Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux on January 16 for a trial date.
