NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man has been granted bail after denying harboring an escapee.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Deon Brown harbored Deangelo Culmer in order to prevent his arrest.

Brown denied this at his arraignment before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans. His bail was set at $8,000 and a trial is scheduled for August 13.

Culmer, who’s facing murder and attempted murder charges stemming from a 2024 shooting, was arrested on May 28 after police stopped and searched Brown’s car.

He had been on the run since reportedly walking through an unlocked door at the South Street magistrates’ court complex on October 2, 2025.

Culmer pleaded guilty to escape on May 29 and was jailed for two years.

Both men are expected to be arraigned tomorrow in connection with the seizure of one pound, eight ounces that was allegedly found in the vehicle that they occupied.
