NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 51-year-old man has been jailed after stabbing his girlfriend 23 times.

Craig Johnson, then 38, killed 33-year-old Skakachan Moss following an argument at a funeral repast at a home on Shirley Street and Canaan Lane on August 22, 2009.

Johnson pleaded guilty to Moss’ murder before his trial began Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson.

She sentenced him to 21 years in prison as part of a plea deal.

The three years that Johnson spent on remand before he was released on bail in 2012 will be deducted from the sentence.

Johnson finally took responsibility for his actions after being on bail for 10 years.

The Court heard that Johnson killed Moss in front of their young children and other witnesses. An argument arose after Moss wanted to leave the repast to attend another event.
