NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A driver whose passenger died during a traffic accident has lost his appeal against his conviction for killing in the course of dangerous driving.

McFalloughn Bowleg has to pay a $10,000 fine to avoid spending 18 months in jail for causing the death of Elwood Lundy, his uncle.

According to the prosecution, Bowleg ran the red light at juncture of Mackey and Shirley Streets and collided with another car on March 22, 2020.

His uncle, who was a backseat passenger, sustained head injuries as a result.

The Court of Appeal determined that the finding of guilt by the magistrate could not be faulted.
