Man Pleads Guilty to Fatal Stabbing at PLP Elizabeth HQ

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 46-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a fatal stabbing outside the Progressive Liberal Party’s Elizabeth constituency headquarters last year.

Kile Dean had initially faced a murder charged in relation to the September 14, 2021 death of Kendrick Cambridge, two days before the general election.

However, Dean pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter as part of a plea agreement when he appeared before Acting Chief Justice Bernard Turner.

The court heard that the men began to fight after Dean poured Cambridge’s drink on the ground.

Dean stabbed Cambridge once a with a knife that allegedly belonged to the deceased.

As part of the deal, Dean was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment, which was reduced to 11 years since he’s already spent one year on remand.

Dean risks spending an additional three years in custody if he doesn’t stay of out legal problems for two years later his release from prison.

Dean was represented by Damien White.

Acting Deputy DPP Cordell Frazier and Karine MacVean were the prosecutors.
