NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who potentially faced a lengthy sentence for a 2020 stabbing will instead serve probation.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson sentenced 64-year-old Hadden Miller to time-served and one year of probation after he pleaded guilty to causing grievous harm.

Miller was initially charged with attempted murder, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

However, prosecutors dismissed the attempted murder charge as part of a plea deal.

Miller stabbed Wilfred Pierre in the abdomen during a fight in Bain Town on September 14, 2020.

The fight started after Pierre refused to leave the area after being order to by Miller.

Miller was sentenced to two years, nine months and 28 days—the time he had spent in custody and placed on probation for one year.
