NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who fled the country more than 20 years ago while on bail for murder is behind bars.

Anthony Valentino Williams, 51, was remanded to prison for the murder of Chief Inspector William Moss when he appeared before Chief Justice Sir Ian Winder today.

Prosecutors say Williams shot and killed Moss while robbing a bank in Long Island on February 28, 2000.

Williams jumped bail in 2003 and an arrest warrant was issued.

He was arrested in South Carolina on August 12, 2004, under the assumed name of John Thomas, on charges of trafficking in crack and powder cocaine.

Williams pleaded guilty and was jailed for 25 years.

He was deported to The Bahamas after completing his sentence.
