NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Miami Heat’s training camp for the 2022-23 season begins today at the Baha Mar Resort.

The team will utilize the Resort’s 20,000-square-foot convention center to hold two-a-day workouts in the morning and in the afternoon respectively, with media sessions in-between the two workouts.

The team has longstanding ties to The Bahamas with this being its third training camp here in the past 10 years.

Training camps were also held here in 2013 and 2016. Point guard Kyle Lowery also organized a trip to The Bahamas earlier this year ahead of the postseason, deepening the team’s bond with the islands.

Udonis Haslem, who has spent the last 20 years with the team has been on all three trips to The Bahamas. He holds a special appreciation for The Bahamas, no doubt owing to his upbringing in the Liberty City neighborhood, a historically Bahamian quarter of the city.

He said to the Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman: “I enjoy the people. I enjoy the culture, the food. Everybody’s nice. The weather is great. There are a lot of Miami Heat fans, it’s just like being home.”

Camp is set to wrap on Saturday, October 1st with a session open to invited guests. The Heat’s preseason starts on October 4th when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at the FTX Arena in Miami.

The team’s regular season starts on the 19th with a home game once again. This one will be against the Chicago Bulls.
