Miller Impresses In Postseason Run In Mexico’s LNBP

MEXICO – National basketball team standout Tavario Miller had an outstanding postseason run before his team was eliminated in the Mexican Pro League. 

Miller and the Mineros de Zacatecas saw their LNBP season come to an end in the zone semifinals in four games.

After game one when he came off the bench with eight points and six rebounds in just 20 minutes of action as the Mineros dropped a heartbreaker, 84-83. 

He earned a spot in the starting lineup for game two and responded with 18 points, five rebounds, and two blocks, though Zacatecas fell again, 86-81. 

Game three was his best performance of the series — a dominant 20 points and 14 rebounds in an 88-85 win and concluded with 14 points and nine rebounds, in a game four loss.

Over the course of the  season, Miller averaged 10.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line. 

Flag Football

The Bahamas Flag Football hosted its fourth Heroes Tournament and Grand Bahama teams dominated.

The 3lynx Bad Boyz won the men’s 9v9, the 3lynx Hawks won the 5 on 5  co-ed version, while the Hawks won the women’s 8v8 division.

This is the second time this season the 3lynx men came to the capitol to win an event following the Sand Wars Tournament in August.

UB Athletics

The University of The Bahamas Mingoes men’s soccer team controlled most of the match but couldn’t capitalize as they continued their tour on the road.

The Mingoes fell 2-1 to Millennia Atlantic University at the Doral Meadow Football Fields.

Team captain and midfielder ronaldo green scored the lone goal for the mingoes with a shot in the 43rd minute to level the score 1-1.

Head coach Alex Thompson said the team had about 14 legitimate chances, but were unable to capitalize.

The Mingoes will look to bounce back when they face Albizu University tomorrow at Ives Estate Park.
