NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s been eight years and multiple delays of justice for the families of four people killed on Fox Hill Park. Fox Hill MP Fred Mitchell says until justice is served, the families will continue to struggle with the loss of their loved ones.

On the evening of December 27th, 2013, the Fox Hill Park was crowded with families and young people eagerly awaiting the Boxing Day Junknaoo results. In a matter of minutes, the atmosphere changed to one of panic and terror, as a drive-by shooting sent everyone running for cover.

Three men were placed on trial for the murder of Claudezino Davis, Shaquille Demeritte, Eric Morrison, and Shenique Sands, and attempted murder of seven others in early 2020. However, the pandemic brought that to a halt.

Ultimately, Mitchell says the courts will make their own determinations, but he was disappointed to learn that two men who were charged with the 2015 murder of Queen’s College Teacher, Joyelle Mcintosh, were set free.

Mitchell says he will continue to agitate for justice. In the meantime, he says his thoughts and prayers are with the families who are waiting for justice to be served.
