Family members tell us she was 23-year-old Philieara Sands.

Her uncle who opted to remain off-camera, for his own safety telling us the incident shocked him.

When we revisited the scene, we met the distraught relative cleaning up the shattered glass where the incident happened.

Police tell us the tragic killing happened shortly after 3 pm Sunday on Finlayson Street in Bain Town.

Investigators say two men exited a silver jeep and started shooting. The victim was sitting in a car when she was shot.

She was taken to hospital where she later died.

We asked him how she will be remembered.

“She was a friendly person, out going person, down with everyone,” he said.

“She’s a nice girl, lil on the partying side but overall she’s alright. She will be missed by a lot of us. That’s a blow to my family and the whole family. We will really feel that.”

Sands leaves behind three children – a seven-year-old, a one-year-old and a four-day-old baby who will not grow up without a mother.

Her uncle, who lives on another island, says he had travelled to New Providence for a doctor’s visit when his trip turned into a nightmare and his neice lost her life.

Now he doesn’t feel safe.
