NASSAU, BAHAMAS – American actor, producer and narrator Morgan Freeman receiving the Sir Sidney Poitier tribute award at The Bahamas International Film Festival Sunday evening.

The Hollywood mega star was the guest of honor at the 18th annual event that was held at the Atlantis Resort.

Speaking on the sidelines, freeman reflected on how Sir Sidney paved the way for young black actors.

Sir Sidney and Freeman shared a decades long friendship.

Following the Bahamian actor’s passing in January 2022, Freeman famously tweeted “Sidney was my inspiration, my guiding light, my friend.”

As for his views of The Bahamas? The actor says it’s not the first time he’s visited.
