NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Schools are closed and that means summer camps throughout the country are in full swing.

It’s summertime and while some youngsters will be indoors, others are finding fun ways to enjoy their break from school by attending summer camps.

The city of Freeport council hosts a number of unique camps annually, and Chief Councilor Frazette Gibson says their aim is to move away from the traditional summer camp.

She shares the importance of creating that balance for the youngsters.

We spoke to campers Judah Rolle and Ranari Dames, who say they’re happy to spend their summer outdoors.

We also found another interactive camp that Pineridge Councilor Edwin Strachan says will teach the campers basic cooking skills.
