NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Royal Bahamas Defence Force officer is in custody after shooting a man following an altercation at a bar.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Royal Bahamas Defence Force officer is in custody after shooting a man following an altercation at a bar.
The national security minister is on the defense saying officers are duty-bound to carry out their functions even when they’re not on the clock.
Days after a defence force officer shot a man outside a bar, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe is defending law enforcement officers who are off duty.
Police said shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday at a bar on West Bay Street near Saunders Beach, the officer got into an argument with a group of men.
The officer allegedly produced a handgun and fired gunshots at the men that ended in the victim being shot multiple times even though he was not involved.
The victim remains in hospital.
Munroe says the officer is still in custody.
He also suggested it’s not unusual for people to act out of the law.
