NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A murder convict’s hopes of gaining freedom were dashed after the country’s final court refused him leave to appeal.

Darius Williams had sought to appeal his conviction and 45-year sentence for the stabbing death of Ricardo Johnson on January 21, 2014 to the Privy Council.

Prosecutors alleged that Williams and another broke into Johnson’s home with the intention of robbing him.

Johnson was killed during an ensuing struggle.
