NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Statistically, our streets are safer according to Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander as major crimes, including murder, are down when compared to this same period last year.

Fernander says there’s a double-digit decrease.

He is crediting their “three-prong plan” for the decrease in murder which include operations like “Ceasefire” , Secure-City” and saturation patrols.

The commissioner is also pleased with how many crimes he says his officers are solving.

Despite a trend in the right direction when compared to last year, there is still the concern of repeat offenders released on bail.
