UNITED STATES – B.J. Murray Jr. is off to a scorching start to the 2026 Triple-A season with the Iowa Cubs and is continuing to make his case for a major league opportunity in the Chicago Cubs organization.

Murray’s recent hit streak was highlighted by Wednesday’s game, when he went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs, and three runs scored while batting in the leadoff spot.

Through 19 games, he is hitting .373 with a .462 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage, for a 1.119 OPS.

The switch-hitting corner infielder also had four home runs and 16 RBIs, emerging as one of the hottest bats in the Cubs’ farm system.

Mingoes Softball

On the other diamond back here at home, the University of The Bahamas softball program’s talent search is underway.

Newly appointed head coach Yvana McDonald began her recruiting outreach at Queen’s College and St. Andrew’s School, hosting informational sessions about the university and the softball program.

The tour will continue at other BAISS schools, while recruitment will also take place during the GSSSA softball season, currently underway.
