NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas now has a national trade policy. The economic affairs minister inferring its a plan that seeks to outline a coherent series of short and medium term measures that align with the National Development Plan Vision 2040 to increase exports.

Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis introducing The Bahamas National Trade Policy, aimed at reducing imports, expanding and diversifying exports and strengthening domestic competitiveness.

As for who to the policy will benefit? The economic affairs minister says it was important to ensure the policy allows Bahamians to tap into global markets without unnecessarily long processes and exorbitant expenses.

Halkitis adding they’ve engaged stakeholders to produce a strong, comprehensive and inclusive policy.
