BIMINI & BERRY ISLANDS – After three years of planning and construction, the wait is over as Norwegian Cruise Line officially unveils the Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay.

The new waterpark is part of a $350M project to transform the cruise line’s private island.

For Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) President, seeing the project finally come together is a big moment.

“Some relaxation, other seek venture, our goal is to create experience that offer something for everyone, so no one has to compromise their perfect vacation.”

The nearly six-acre waterpark features 19 water slides, a wandering river, cliff jumps, and plenty for the little ones, including a massive dunk tank and other family-friendly attractions.

However, Norwegian Holdings’ Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Development Officer, Dan Frankas, says the waterpark is just one part of the bigger picture.

“We have we have brought hundreds of jobs and construction to create this, and we have converted those hundreds of jobs into every day operating maintenance to repair jobs, sales jobs, lifeguard jobs. There’s there’s a place for Bahamians anywhere in our island.”

Also, on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas Herschel Walker and his wife.

Walker highlights the longstanding partnership between the two countries, while welcoming Norwegian Cruise Line continued investment here in The Bahamas.

For Berry Islands Member of Parliament Randy Rolle, the project is about more than what visitors get to enjoy.

With hundreds of millions of dollars being invested right here in his constituency, Rolle says Bahamians also need to feel the benefits.
