NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A recent Privy Council ruling will have no impact on current immigration detention practices, according to Attorney General Ryan Pinder KC.

A ruling Wednesday revealed Kenyan national Douglas Ngumi was unlawfully detained for all but two days while officials organized his deportation.

Pinder’s comments came during the office of the prime minister’s weekly press briefing.

Pinder said since taking office, a reform mechanism was implemented to prevent matters of delay regarding deportation.
