NASSAU, BAHAMAS – North Abaco MP Kirk Cornish allegedly spat in a woman’s face after he allegedly raped her last year.

Cornish’s ex girlfriend made the shocking claims when she took the stand in his rape, assault and threats of death case.

The witness recalled that on March 25, 2023 she and Cornish were staying at an Airbnb in New Providence. The woman said she was in the front room when she received a phone call. She testified that Cornish was listening in while sitting beside her.

She said when she didn’t say what he wanted her to, Cornish lunged at her with a knife.

After the alleged knife attack, the woman said that she went into the bedroom.

The witness alleged that Cornish came into the room, undressed her and had sex with her against her will.

She recalled, “When he was done, he spat in my face.”

The woman said she and Cornish went back to Abaco the following day.

While in Abaco on April 4, 2023, the woman testified that she let Cornish into her home after he rang the dooorbell.

Once inside, she claimed that Cornish pushed her into her room, removed her pants and underwear and pushed her down onto the bed.

The woman said she pinned her legs together and Cornish threatened to break them.

The woman said that Cornish pried her legs open and had sex with her against her will.

When the prosecutor, Basil Cumberbatch, asked the woman why she didn’t file a police report after the first alleged rape, she said, “We were in a relationship. I didn’t want to embarrass the defendant.”

The woman said she went to the police on April 7, 2023.

Cornish has denied the allegations against him.

His trial before Justice Renae McKay continues on Wednesday.
