NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A shocking prediction made by North Eleuthera Member of Parliament Sylvanus Petty, just weeks after he announced he would not seek renomination for the North Eleuthera seat in the next general election.

Petty is relatively new to politics, he’s a first-time MP and also the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.

He’s also the former Water and Sewerage Corporation Chairman, where he served from 2021 until his resignation in 2023.

Despite his decision to step away from the political frontlines for a while, Petty believes he still has a lot to offer.

“We have to move and progress. I think there’s a lot of things we have to do. I mean, I will reveal everything in the next five years, trust me, but it’s gonna be something that the Bahamas, the whole Bahamas, can be proud of. I guarantee you that.”

So, is Petty forecasting defeat for the Progressive Liberal Party at the polls?

“I don’t think so. I mean, all indications point that the PLP will be back in power, so yeah.”

“We have four persons on the ground right now, four persons we have on the ground right now. We have a branch meeting next week Thursday, so we’re gonna meet with all the aspiring candidates for North Eleuthera. And then the branch will make a decision, and then we write to the Prime Minister to see who is best seated to take over for my position.”
