Suns’ Guard Eric Gordon To Join Team Bahamas for Olympic Qualifier

USA – Sports blog 10th Year Seniors reported on their social media pages that Phoenix Suns Guard Eric Gordon has been released from his obligations to Team USA and will immediately join Team Bahamas for the Olympic Qualifiers in Argentina next week.

Gordon will join his teammate on the Suns, Deandre Ayton, as well as NBA players Buddy Hield, and Kai Jones along with seasoned overseas professionals Kino Burrows, Kadeem Coleby, Dominic Bridgewater, Danrad Knowles, former college standouts “Tum Tum” Nairn, Franco Miller and college stars AJ Storr and Garvin Clarke on what may be perhaps the strongest basketball team that The Bahamas has ever produced.

Although he was born and grew up in Indianapolis Gordon’s mother hails from The Bahamas and he has spent an extensive amount of his childhood and adult life here, giving him a close bond to The Bahamas and to his family over here.

Team Bahamas is in Puerto Rico today playing the University of Kansas in a warm-up match. Then they’re on to Argentina for the Olympic qualifier where they will play in a pool with Cuba, Panama, and Argentina.

The addition of Gordon makes Team 242 the strongest team in the tournament, at least on paper. They’ll have one week of practices and scrimmages to form some sort of cohesion as a unit. Then they’ll take on Cuba on Monday.

The Bahamas has never made the Olympics in basketball, nevertheless, they are committed to making the push.

The Bahamas is producing basketball talent at a rate unprecedented for a country with our population.

This is our chance.
