NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police officer who was shot in an armed robbery attempt Tuesday, is reported to be in stable but serious condition.

Police say the shooting happened at a food store in the area of Wulff Road.

Officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit Chief Superintendent Michael Johnson says two men attempted to rob the food store when the off-duty officer intervened.

One of the men produced a firearm and shot the officer in his upper body.
