Officer Charged With Murder, Hit With Attempted Fraud Charge

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A magistrate set bail at $3,000 for a policeman who allegedly tried to collect building supplies after presenting forged invoices.

Lee Dormeus faced charges of attempted fraud by false pretenses, possession of a forged document and uttering a forged document at his arraignment before Magistrate Kendra Kelly.

Prosecutors allege that on February 16 Dormeus went to FYP Building Supplies and attempted to collect $6,161.65 using two forged paid invoices.

Dormeus has pleaded not guilty and returns to court on May 24 for his trial.

At the time of the alleged offenses Dormeus was suspended from his duties as a policeman after being charged with murder.

Prosecutors say Dormeus and two other officers murdered Danrico Carey at Nassau Village on November 13, 2021.
