SOUTH KOREA – South Korean law enforcement apologizing for their role in the crowd surge Tuesday that killed more than 150 people during a halloween event over the weekend.

The government is facing growing public scrutiny over Saturday night’s crush in Seoul in a popular nightlife neighbourhood.

The criticism is over whether it could have been prevented and who should take responsibility.

The National Police Chief said the initial investigation found there were many urgent calls notifying authorities about the potential danger posed by the large gathering.

Police receiving the calls failed to handle the reports effectively.

There is an internal police probe into the officers’ handling of those emergency calls.
