ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS – The One Eleuthera Foundation and Centre for Training and Innovation is located on a sprawling property in Rock Sound, Eleuthera.

It’s also home to a head office and a 16-room bungalow-style vintage resort named the retreat.

There’s also a restaurant on-site that serves farm-to-table dishes made with fresh produce harvested from their training farm that’s just a few feet away.

President and CEO of One Eleuthera Foundation Keyron Smith says their focus is empowering their community.

In many ways, it’s a self-sustaining non-profit that gives back to its community and we got to see that first hand.

One of our stops on the tour was the Oasis Grow House – a 1.1-acre, fully automated facility that creates the optimum growing conditions for crops to thrive in tropical climates.

It’s the first of its kind in the country and according to Crop Production Officer Selima Hauber, it’s a game changer in the local farming industry.

The grow house is a part of One Eleuthera’s centre for training and innovation facility.

Hauber says a part of their work is training local farmers..

While One Eleuthera is continuing its work in the community, there’s a family-owned and operated hotel that’s doing its part to bring visitors to the Tarpum Bay community, that story’s coming up Wednesday.
