NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Office of the Prime Minister is defending the Prime Minister’s criticism of Michael Pintard’s professional and life experiences. Communications Director Latrae Rahming is calling the backlash unwarranted.
As the blowback grows, Communications Director in the Office of the Prime Minister, Latrae Rahming, is defending the Prime Minister’s characterization of FNM Leader Michael Pintard.
Prime Minister Davis has said Pintard is unprepared to lead The Bahamas based on his professional and life experiences.
It all started at a Progressive Liberal Party meeting on May 18th, 2025. Davis questioned what Pintard has ever built or managed outside of press conferences and political complaints.
Rahming is calling it political mischief as he urges Pintard to defend his résumé.

“I think what is very clear is that the Leader of the Opposition finds questions about his résumé to be a very sensitive topic. The Prime Minister never said that being creative is not a real job. In fact, I think the Prime Minister has a record of doing more for creatives than Michael Pintard has ever done as Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture.”
At that PLP meeting Sunday, Davis highlighted his background of building a legal practice from the ground up, paying staff and meeting payrolls.
Rahming believes the Prime Minister’s questions are reasonable.

“The Prime Minister went through the same level of scrutiny. People said that he was a criminal lawyer, and he got attacked for that. So I think it’s a fair question, and I think we would’ve thought that Michael Pintard would not have felt sensitive about his résumé and just simply say what he has done.”
The FNM has fired back, sharing the names of notable Bahamian creatives who changed Bahamian culture.
Earlier this week, Davis doubled down, saying Pintard has done well with his poetry and acting career, but again questioned what he has done to help others.
The Communications Director referenced the Prime Minister’s track record with the Orange Economy.

“It was the Prime Minister who brought intellectual property laws to protect Bahamians and what they do, to ensure that if you are a Bahamian musician, that if persons are singing your songs, they are paying you for it. I think the Prime Minister went further in creating a school for the performing arts and for creatives to ensure that they have the exposure and training needed to participate in a very robust, growing Orange Economy.”
We also asked Rahming how he would respond to anyone offended by Davis’ sentiments.

“I think if they read the Prime Minister’s full remarks and not simply just look at what Michael Pintard is saying to avoid a conversation on his résumé, then they will have all the satisfaction that the Prime Minister doesn’t see being a creative as a bad thing.”
