NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Opposition Leader Michael Pintard not holding back today, claiming there’s more than one politician involved in a drug scandal.

It came to light last month after a U.S court document was made public.

A criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claims a politician was caught on a wiretap with an undercover U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Agent in Parliament in 2024, discussing a possible drug deal.

During his contribution to the budget debate Wednesday morning, Pintard not only called for a public inquiry, but also alleged there may be more public figures involved.

“The public inquiry ought to look as whether or not they exist a politician one, we believe there exists politician one and based on some things, we will share overtime believe there’s a politician as well and possibly three.”

More than once, the opposition tried to table that affidavit in the House of Assembly, however, the move has been repeatedly blocked by House Speaker Patricia Deveauax.

In fact, Deveaux, calls the allegations “frivolous and malicious gossip.”

The opposition formally wrote to the police commissioner, requesting a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

Pintard says it was a necessary move.
