NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas government should be commended for creating a budget that will not impact individuals too drastically, according to the head of a local civil organization. However, it will be interesting to see how the plan is put into action.

Kristina Dragovich takes a look.

Executive Director of the Organization for Responsible Governance, Matt Aubry, says he and other non-governmental organizations will be looking to see how the government allocates money to make the biggest impact.

Before the budget presentation began, Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis indicated there would be no new taxes.

However, the government has made it clear it will focus on reclaiming existing taxes, as it tries to create more opportunities.

Aubry is representing The Bahamas during the summit of the Americas, which wrapped up Friday.
