PAHO: MOH Approvals “Good Policy”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Ministry of Health’s review and approval process for large events is “a very good policy,” according to Pan American Health Organization experts.

PAHO Director of Health Emergencies, Dr. Ciro Ugarte says PAHO is aware that some events have been shut down by The Bahamas Ministry of ealth for not following health protocols. So far, he says it is a good policy.

Most recently, two concert events were scrapped after they did not receive the necessary approvals from health officials.

According to PAHO, each country makes its own protocols, based on the current COVID situation.

Although COVID case numbers may decline, Dr. Ugarte warns countries against prematurely relaxing public health measures.
