SANTIAGO, CHILE – Former national record holder Ken Mullings came ninth at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile.

Mullings had a strong start early finishing in the top three in the 100, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 before being overtaken by eventual winner, Santiago Ford of the host nation, Chile.

Mullings finished with 5673 points, well off his record of 7866.

NBA

The national team hero, who usually comes off the bench, got the start for the Phoenix Suns.

Eric Gordon scored 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting, with 6 assists but it wasn’t enough to overcome the San Antonio Spurs.

Gordon and the Suns were in control for most of the game, leading by as many as 20 in the 3rd quarter before the Spurs eventually whittled the lead down and overtook the Suns on some clutch shooting from rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama.
