Parents Arrested For Assaulting Teachers

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin made the shocking revelation as she discussed new measures to secure school campuses in the upcoming fiscal year. Hanna-Martin says some of the confrontations have ended in parents going before the court. She seeks to make it clear that this behavior will not be tolerated.

Instances like these and other violent behaviors prompted the Ministry of Education to create a school resources program. The program involves partnerships to improve school safety. The school violence section spends time mentoring students and following up with students involved in violent disputes.

Despite these instances, Hanna-Martin maintains they’ve seen a decrease in school violence.
