NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A day of fun and exploration turned deadly for about 100 adventure seekers heading to Blue Lagoon Island Tuesday morning.

Little did they know that about 30 minutes later, they would be fighting for their lives.

Police reporting that an excursion vessel took on water near Blue Lagoon Island resulting in the passengers being evacuated and the death of an elderly American woman.

First-hand video shows the boat listing to the right with the bottom completely submerged in water.

Kelly Schissel a cruise visitor was on board.

Schissel claims she stepped in to help lead rescue efforts as the boat crew appeared to be frantic.

The death of a 75-year-old woman from Colorado woman sent shockwaves. Schissel says she spoke to her before she died.

Both the ministries of tourism and transport along with Blue Lagoon Island who owned the vessel released statements saying that the accident is under investigation.
