Patrice Hanna Carey: “I’ve Already Gotten The Victory In Freetown”

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – The 2026 general election is less than a month away and one of the seats to keep a close eye on is the Free Town constituency.

Contesting the seat will be incumbent for the Progressive Liberal Party Wayne Munroe, Free National Movement candidate, Lincoln Deal, Coalition of Independents candidate Olivia Ingraham-Griffin, along with independent candidate, Andrew Johnson.

But there’s one more horse in the race, Dr. Patrice Hanna-Carey, she tells me she’s ready to work with a clear vision forward.

“Housing is a big concern in my constituency economic needs straight across the board, lower taxes, yes but at the same time, income, greater resource and sustainability of being able to work within that scope of your resources, mental health mental health has been and is still one of the greatest factors in constituencies like the free town constituency”

Hanna-Carey, an advocate on many issues such as sex crimes, crimes against children and the health care system.

Back in 2023, she was held briefly by police after she went to parliament square to protest against what she calls a failing health system.

The controversial incident, captured in a live Facebook feed.

She tells me it’s that same passion that’s poured over into her community.

“Unless you actually take up national rules like that because he to be able to see really, what is impacting the nation, what’s impacting the people then you really can’t speak or in my opinion and my personal opinion so within that and a very wise scope of advocacy as you know, family women and girl rights also LGBTQ rights, regardless immigration these are key factors “

“I have the victory. I have already gone ahead and won that election. This is how wonderful the response has been with the people. I hope to be one that is an example. It’s a good store as it might be for individual that shows the way that a member of parliament should be so I strive for excellence in that way, but the response is tremendous and I think in this election people are gonna go to the polls and show more than dualist, ranting and enchanting and drama.
