NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s a strong sentiment shared by House Speaker Patricia Deveaux who shared advice for any woman considering front line politics.

As a newcomer to the role, she has spent the last two years in office, gaining firsthand experience of the trials that come with the leadership journey. Her guidance extending beyond those sentiments.

Deveaux was elected house speaker following her win as Bamboo Town MP in the 2021 General Elections and now two years in, she says things have gotten easier, while candidly opening up about the highs and lows of governing.

As for representing her constituents, the speaker was glowing when she talked about the grace she’s been extended as she says they understand the critical role she’s been called to serve.

But all in all, the speaker says she’s become diligent in finding balance.
