GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Dozens of young basketball players hit the hardwood last week at St. George’s Gymnasium in Grand Bahama as the City of Freeport Council hosted its annual basketball camp.

The camp, led by Jay Phillippe, brought together boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 17 for a week of skill development.

Participants received instruction from certified coaches, focusing on the fundamentals of the game, including ball handling, passing, shooting, defensive technique and team play.

Phillippe, who enjoyed one of the most successful coaching runs in Bahamian high school basketball at Sunland Baptist, said he was encouraged by both the turnout, and the level of talent displayed throughout the camp.
