NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Marco City Member of Parliament, Michael Pintard making an appeal for unity as he made his case for leadership of the Free National Movement.

Berthony McDermott reports.

The race for leadership of the free national movement heating up with Marco City MP Michael Pintard coming out and announcing his bid, making it a three-man race.

Pintard’s campaign launch made a splash as an in-person and virtual event. Among the room full of supporters were former FNM MP’s, including Travis Robinson, Pakesia Parker-Edgecombe, and Don Saunders.

His call for unity comes as party insiders say former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis’s leadership style pushed away certain factions of the party.

Pintard ran for office in the Centerville and Cat Island, Rum Cay, and San Salvador constituencies in 1997 and 2002 respectively, but failed to be elected to parliament.

He won in Marco City in 2017 and again in 2021, and he has also served as the party’s chairman.
