NEW YORK – Prime Minister Philip Davis not mincing words this morning as he addressed The 77th United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.

The Prime Minister noting that small island nations such as The Bahamas often bears the biggest burdens and risks of climate change, yet they contribute so little to the climate crisis.

He also notes the threat to the financial services industry in the country and region, he called on the U.N. to leverage its universal jurisdiction for greater oversight of global anti-money laundering, de-risking and tax co-operation matters.

Just yesterday, The Bahamas was added to the organization for economic co-operation and development’s blacklist, an action the Prime Minister calls “profoundly unfair”.

Prime Minister Davis further highlighting regional issues including migration, crime and the smuggling of illegal guns.
