PM: By-Election Win Shows Voter Confidence In Government

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Wednesday’s by-election victory sent a clear message to the Free National Movement that residents are still confident in the Davis administration.

That’s according to Prime Minister Philip Davis who spoke after Kingsley Smith’s victory was secured.

The West Grand Bahama and Bimini seat became vacant following the sudden passing of former Wilchcombe.

In his address to supporters, Davis said the win was for Obie.

According to the unofficial results, Smith won 2,150 votes while FNM candidate Bishop Ricardo grant received 1,276 votes.

The number sparked concerns about a lower-than-usual voter turnout. The matter was put to the prime minister.

Before all the numbers came in, PLP supporters in Bimini were already in the streets celebrating.

PLP’s marched around the island dancing and singing in the road.

Many of them were overjoyed by the victory.
