NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The prime minister is hitting back after environmentalists and a major hotel have raised concerns about a multi-million-dollar beach club to be developed on Paradise Island by Royal Caribbean International.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The prime minister is hitting back after environmentalists and a major hotel have raised concerns about a multi-million-dollar beach club to be developed on Paradise Island by Royal Caribbean International.
A proposed multi-million-dollar beach club development on Paradise Island by Royal Caribbean International, not sitting well with many who fear these types of developments could have a negative environmental impact.
Prime Minister Philip Davis responded Tuesday, following a statement issued by Audrey Oswell, President and Managing Director of Atlantis Paradise Island, who came out coming out strongly against the move.
Among the issues being raised are the impact to the coastline, additional boat traffic in Nassau Harbour, the desalination and water treatment plants in the area, and a lack of adequate emergency services.
Executive Chairman of Save the Bays Joe Darville also weighed in, saying if the project is to move forward, he hopes environmentalists monitor in the years to come.
Another concern of his was the acquisition of crown land, which the Davis Administration says will not be included.
